The wisdom of the world’s religions inspires us in our ethical and spiritual life. There may be hymns and sermons, meditations, prayers, and rituals inspired by many lands and cultures. Music is drawn from gospel, classical, folk and jazz traditions. Our services reflect the appreciation for diversity we wish to foster.

Occupy 2012 – Neal Shepherd

Throughout the world, there is rising a spirit of hope for the beginning of a new society based on love of one another, sharing our wealth, our talents and our earthly home.  We will have to answer the old question “What is to be done?” as one heart. No potluck this week!

One Day More – Rev. Holly Lux-Sullivan

With 2012 being a leap year, we have what we think of as an extra day this week. The Rev. Holly Lux-Sullivan invites us to consider how to make those extra 24 hours count -- and, as a consequence, how to make all our hours count.

How do you like your life best – in solitude or with companions? – Rev. Dick Weston-Jones

It’s just over 150 years since Henry David Thoreau wrote Walden or Life in the Woods. For many UUs, our time in the woods is when we feel most spiritual, but our time with people we love is just as important to most of us. Thoreau preferred time alone: “I never found the companion that was so companionable as solitude,” he wrote. Which do you prefer? Dick will also tell about a spiritual pilgrimage he took, hiking alone for days among Orthodox monasteries in Greece, spending time with Orthodox monks there.

Religious Education

The children’s program provide a strong ethical and spiritual foundation and draws upon the world’s great religions including our Unitarian Universalist heritage. Adult programs reflect the various interest and needs of the congregation. Members are encouraged to teach as well as to learn.

Please contact the church office (919) 956-8494, or see your newsletter for times and locations of our adult growth and learning classes.

Justice - our spiritual center

All Souls Church is a group of people committed to the quest to become a diverse, multi-racial, multi-cultural, Christian friendly, inclusive community. We are continuing to address the meaning of our congregational ministry. Our church is an instrument of personal transformation, spiritual growth and positive social change.

We devote significant time, money and energy in these three areas working for social justice seeking to bring an end to institutional racism and all other forms of oppression. We provide support and advocacy for all who are oppressed. It is our hope that our faith community will be an ally and help shape the Triangle communities.
